We use Jamf Pro to manage all our Macbook and iPad devices. Integrates nicely with Apple School Manager and makes it easy to deploy apps. We also use Jamf Protect for extra security and Jamf Connect for user authentication with our identity provider.
We needed a way to manage Apple devices on our mostly Windows network.
  • Deploy apps and software packages with ease.
  • Allows us to use Shared iPad mode which is great in our lower school.
  • Prestage enrollments make for almost zero tough device deployment.
  • Would love the ability to monitor or see app usage and time on Shared iPad's.
  • Jamf app catalog continues to get better and better. Keep up the good work on that.
  • Software updates could use some improvement.
Sharing an iPad with multiple students (Shared iPad mode) is very helpful for us. Each student can have their own profile with own settings stored.
Apple devices are not very enterprise friendly, compared to Windows, so Jamf Pro helps bridge that gap especially with the help of Jamf Connect for idp authentication.

Apple device management. In a world where people want choice and devices that don't necessarily like to be managed, this product is the Cadillac and granddaddy as far as Apple MDM is concerned. While it does have its quirks (what product doesn't), Jamf's support is on key and will do what it can to help you - even if it's out of their purview.

Well suited for any organization that wants to manage apple products. It's extremely easy to integrate and has many connectors for existing enterprise infrastructure applications. Certificate management is a breeze. Not so suited for smaller businesses that only have 10-20 devices. Jamf has another product called JAMF Now that would suffice for those areas.

We use Jamf Pro as our mobile device management (MDM) for all our staff and student, macOS and iOS devices at the university.

We have used it now for over 10 years. It has help us to efficiently deploy devices to students labs, staff offices and student loan equipment.

Using Jamf Pro we are able to configure our devices down to the smallest details. This helps us mange our devices to meat all our IT policies.
  • Configuring devices
  • App deployment
  • specialist device management
  • Patch Mangement
  • Apple security update deployment
  • Apple security update management
  • Patch management is needing further improvment
Before Jamf Pro was implemented we had to manually image each device separately. This would sometimes cause inconsistency between devices. With Jamf Pro this was immediately rectified as it is allow managed within the portal and remotely deployed to devices once they have connected with Jamf Pro.

Apple security updates have always bee a issue to deploy to devices remotely. Jamf Pro has only recently added their own way off managing this through the portal. However before this using the accessibility of Apple devices Jamf Pro offers there are many options to implement that help manage the deployment of updates.

Jamf Pro is our only MDM. and it helps me run three different buildings and all of their devices. We are a CHARTER SCHOOL in Decatur IL. [...]. We have almost 500 devices and 3 locations and being able to do all of the things we can from one location is a benefit.
  • REMOTE LOCK OF LOST IPADS
  • EASY UPDATE OF IOS AND MACOS
  • TRACK DEVICES AND KEEP THEM IN COMPLIANCE
  • ZERO TOUCH
  • To be honest these last few updates have solved all my issues that I had.
  • The one thing I would like to see is better searching for SHARED IPADS. To be able to search the shared users on the iPads
I am a 1 person IT department and I handle 3 locations. The ease in which I can control everything has made my job a lot less stressful. That is priceless to me. I student loosing a iPad I located the iPad lock it and send a ping. I can see right away if it's in the school or at home. what's not to love.

I'm an IT Support Specialist and we use Jamf Pro as our MDM for Apple devices. It's brilliant and makes our lives much easier when managing Macs/iPhones. It allows us to keep track of our devices, deploy software updates, troubleshoot issues, create smart/static groups, password managment and so on. From a users perspective I haven't come across any issues, it only enhanced our job day-to-day.
  • Allow us to create smart/static groups
  • Enroll and configure devices
  • Deploy software/application updates
  • Troubleshoot issues with devices
  • View logs such as computer usage logs/audit logs/policy logs etc
  • LAPS password management - don't include special characters to allow a clean copy/paste
I think Jamf Pro is mainly suited to larger companies however smaller businesses would also make good use of this software. Being a global company, we heavily benefit from this software. A prime example would be if a user from NZ for example had their laptop stolen, any IT support specialist from around the globe in our company could pick up this issue and lockdown the laptop via Jamf Pro preventing an avalanche of issues.

Jamf Pro is the primary tool my university uses for Apple device management. Jamf Pro enables us to automatically enroll devices, apply configurations that ensure they adhere to security policy, install any applications and configurations a user or department would need and much more. Jamf has tons of features and integrations. It can be integrated into most popular identity providers (Microsoft AD/Entra ID, Okta, Google, etc). Jamf regularly introduces new features to make their product better, such as Jamf Remote Assist for remotely connecting to devices without specific network dependencies. Overall Jamf gives us the ability to manage Apple devices in the best way possible and also enables us to give superb support to users with Apple devices.
  • Automatically enroll Apple devices into management.
  • Allows for macOS & iOS patching.
  • Allows for third-party patching.
  • Allows the running of custom scripts.
  • Support could be better.
  • A more automated third-party patch management solution.
I think anywhere Apple devices are managed Jamf Pro is well suited. It only wouldn't be appropriate in organizations without a significant Apple footprint.

It allows me to remotely drop ship macs to users and have them log in with no issues. It also gives me the opportunity to zero touch apps and set security protocols for my user base to keep their computers secure, safe and reliable. This has greatly increased our teams efficiency and workflows.
  • Reporting
  • Deploy apps
  • UI flexibility with smart groups
If you have more than 5 of iPhones/iPads/AppleTV's or Mac's that an endpoint management tool like Jamf will help you out in HUGE ways. You'll reduce your overhead, improve your endpoint security and make your overall IT Experience/support much easier!

At our company, for many years now, we are using Jamf Pro for managing our macOS devices fleet. Jamf Pro is used for everything, from the device initial set-up and enrollment, restricting software and etc, to pushing configuration profiles for specific apps/network and etc. We do utilise Self Service application (aka. own AppStore) to give our users list of approved software to be used in our company. Overall, we have a great experience using Jamf Pro, it's stable and reliable.
  • Flexibility of device management
  • Scoping policies
  • Product support
  • Managing Software Updates
  • Patch management
It's well suited for firms with large or growing fleet of devices. I can only say about macOS device management, as for mobile devices we have a different solution. But I had a chance to play around with mobile device management using Jamf on one of the trainings using Sandbox, and I can say that you can totally use it for managing iOS/iPadOS/Android devices as well.

Jamf Pro completely changed my workflow within the last two organizations I have been with. Jamf Pro brings ease to the deployment of devices, and brings Zero Touch deployment to the table. This allows users to have a seamless onboarding process. We are also able to keep our devices up to date, and compliant with Hippa standards.
  • Zero Touch Policy
  • Patch Management
  • Policy Control
  • SSO
  • LDAP integration
Jamf Pro is well suited in Mac MDM and in the granular control of those devices. It allows for zero touch deployment which is phenomenal. It does lack ability to do some things on the iPhone and iPad side of things. This is restricted by Apple, but it would be nice to do a little bit more on the tablets and phones.

I am using Jamf to manage more than 500 devices across multiple BU's like developers, graphic designers etc. Jamf helped in achieving nearly zero touch enrolment. We will give utmost important to data exfiltration and users cannot access Microsoft apps due to conditional access.
  • Conditional Access
  • Zero Touch Deployments
  • Patch Management
  • Configuration Profiles to manage application usability
  • Single Page representation of all 3rd Party integrations
Jamf Pro is designed in a very user friendly way and can be easily understandable by the support personal. I have been using tool since 2012 and it changed a lot over a course of time.
Jamf team has been maintaining a very well documentation which will be helpful if you are trying integrations. Also, once you got license you will have access to their trainings.
I love the Jamf Community and Jamf claims that it is one of the biggest user community who manage Apple devices. You know what, it is the best community I have ever seen, very responsive community.

We utilize Jamf Pro to manage a fleet of 150 Macs and around 100 iPads. We also use it to remotely deploy software and printers. It is essential in standardizing configuration and software across all the computers and devices, with different configurations for staff and students. It's also been important in deploying Jamf Connect to allow JIT account creation without having to bind to Active Directory.
  • Jamf Pro's Self Service is a great mechanism for making software available to end uses as they need it.
  • Jamf Pro is also great for creating plans called PreStage Enrollments that allow for computers to skip many of the setup screens, as well as automating account creation.
  • Jamf Pro in combination with Apple Automated Device Enrollment (formerly DEP) allows for devices to supervised and managed, this combination allows for locking, remote wipe of devices, and finding locations of devices when put into lost mode.
  • Jamf Pro has made great strides in patch management, but it's still not as smooth as it could be.
  • Jamf Pro needs a better mechanism for enforcing computer and device names, as well as setting names when devices are brought in, in an automated manner.
  • As we wait for Jamf Pro to include the Remote Desktop functionality in the management page for devices, depreciating Jamf Remote and shifting to Team Viewer was not appreciated. It feels like a long wait.
We run a technology lending program for students. Jamf Pro has been instrumental in allowing student staff to prepare the laptops in a systematic, consistent manner. The same can be said with iPads and deploying apps to the iPads is automated. Also, extra software titles are made available in Self Service (both for laptops and iPads). Additionally, putting policies in Self Service for IT student workers to deploy to sit-down machines to run as needed is quite useful as well. Less appropriate scenarios would be in cases where there are fewer than 10 to 20 machines. Looking at Jamf Now would probably be a better use of resources. Jamf Now is not as robust as Jamf Pro, but for smaller entities it would be a better fit and a better choice financially.

We use JAMF to manage student iPads and staff computers. We are able to deploy apps and push out updates as needed. JAMF allows us to keep "an eye" on our inventory and monitor for devices that may be offline. Without JAMF, we would need to physically touch each and every device on a regular basis.
  • Ability to login in from anywhere
  • Having the capability to manage deployment of apps to one or more groups is very convenient.
  • Having the ability to control content on managed devices.
  • JAMF Nation is so big - it could use a better search/navigation option.
  • Clearinghouse for scripts that other advanced users have created to accomplish different actions in JAMF. So we can use it in our schools
  • We just moved to the cloud. And the response time from login to getting logged in lags.
JAMF would work for an organization that has to manage or coordinate use of over 20 Apple devices. If a company has a small number of devices, it may not be cost effective.

When I first started with The Art of Education, I was a contractor and they were using a very basic MDM solution. It had been set up poorly and was not meeting their needs. I lobbied for change and we made the switch to Jamf Pro. It was 100% worth it! Our options went from almost zero to hero overnight. Jamf Pro has allowed us to continuously improve our device management, and meet an ever-growing need. From custom shell scripts to customized profiles, extension attributes for reporting, and a well-supported API. Anytime I've hit a brick wall, Jamf support has been there to assist, with chat support, email response, or even a Zoom meeting to help me find the right answers. If you're looking for your next MDM solution, you can't go wrong with Jamf Pro.
  • Custom Scripts mean you can accomplish almost anything you need.
  • Extension Attributes gives you a way to report on anything.
  • Extremely configurable. Just know that means it can be hard to find what you're looking for.
  • Training and community resources are readily available.
  • Training options are terrific, but costly.
  • Finding what you need in Jamf Pro can be tough at times. The interface is not what I would call friendly.
  • You'll need static credentials for Jamf Pro. They don't integrate with the Jamf Account, and it doesn't offer 2FA. SSO is an option, but it's not simple to set up.
PRO: Jamf Pro is terrific when you want to know you'll have support for the latest Apple MDM changes, software upgrades, etc. They offer same-day support for macOS releases. And, if you need to be able to use an API to integrate with other solutions (for reporting, inventory, etc), Jamf Pro is a great choice.

CON: You might not want to use Jamf Pro if you're new to MDM. Other solutions can be easier to work with or set up from scratch.

I use Jamf Pro to manage our Apple computers and devices. Jamf Pro is an easy to use MDM solution that allows for ease of management of these devices to make them more secure and line up with business goals. Jamf Pro allows me to think on other strategic work while I don't have to worry about the management and security of my devices.
  • MDM management
  • Encryption of devices
  • Empower the end-user
  • Dark Mode
Jamf Pro is great at managing a devices settings. Configuration profiles such as FileVault encryption can be used to enable and enforce encryption on computers while escrowing a personal recovery key in the computer's Jamf Pro inventory record. If the user fails to remember their FV password, the PRK can be given to them.

We use Jamf Pro to manage all our apple devices in the company. The biggest thing we use it for is our zoom rooms. We have it set up so we have two IPads for each room and set them to stay in single app mode. This way no one can mess with the devices and they can serve their purpose. Another great use of Jamf Pro is that we were able to implement our BYOD process. We have apple users enroll via Jamf Pro and we are able to push out apps to them for business use.
  • Manages apple devices
  • Easily set restrictions for devices
  • Ability to lock and locate our lost devices via coordinates of last known location.
  • We can set them to specified groups to have only specified types of access
  • More options to edit the setting in the devices
  • Consolidate/update the payloads
It's great in so many ways but my favorite is how we can set them in single app mode. This way the Zoom rooms we have set up work flawlessly. I also enjoy the fact it is so easy to send apps and add key values if we need restrictions on those apps.

Best MDM Solution out there - besides our Company has already had Workspace in place- but we managed to add Jamf Pro as an additional MDM Solution for our Developer Teams that needed easy and seamless Management for Macs. • Jamf Nation
  • Best MDM in Class
  • Patch management works great
  • Dashboard should be easy for changes in Layout
  • Patch management for macOS should be available to specific Versions
  • buying licences via a vendor is not pleasurable
Jamf Pro works seamlessly from start - you need to have a Jamf Start to be allowed to use it. Great hands-on introduction. Jamf is Zero Day Ready when Apple develops new features. We use Jamf Pro in our organization to manage our macOS devices. To be more specific, all security policies, data collection, software deployment, and maintenance and compliance management are delivered using Jamf. Our support teams are using Jamf to analyze computer performance and help users be more productive in their day-to-day device usage.
  • Scoping
  • Software distribution
  • Configuration profiles management
  • Closing known issues
  • Cloud infrastructure - sometimes nodes are not reliable
Jamf is a perfect solution for enterprises and requires minimum effort. Once you set it up, it doesn't take much effort to keep it running. If you want to use it to collect an enormous amount of data from devices (performance, device characteristics, etc.), it might become complicated and require additional scripting skills.

We use it to manage Macs and mobile devices in student labs and classrooms. The major problem that this tool solved was the large amount of labor required to configure and reset the Apple devices every summer. Now the majority of the work can be done remotely and by one or two individuals at most. It also simplifies the recovery process for when a student were to cause any issues on the devices.
  • Apple device Management
  • User-based Configuration
  • Simple setup
  • Device detail reporting
Best suited: Anywhere where you need to manage Apple devices in remote or on-site situations, and want to provide a user experience where IT is as little involved as possible.

Not suited for: Small scale deployments, such as 10 or less, or where you are needing to "white glove" each and every device still in order to get them to users.

We rely on Jamf Pro to manage the complete lifecycle management of ~2500 Macs globally.
Key functions we rely on heavily are
  • Automated Device Enrollment for initial deployment of both end-user machines and Zoom Room conferencing Mac Mini's
  • Automatic and self-service software distribution both on and off-network
  • AWS integration
  • Managed Apple software update; point releases and security updates
  • Self-serve OS upgrade in-place via Self Service
  • VPP app distribution
  • FileVault disk encryption
  • Various reporting
  • Automatic printer configuration via Self Service
  • Configuration Profiles for a variety of managed preference settings
  • OS upgrade in-place via Self-Service
  • Zero day support for most new Apple features
  • Jamf [Pro]'s overall framework that allows for a wide variety of integrations and custom problem-solving solutions via policies, scripting, MDM, etc
  • While already in progress, the Configuration Profile editor is a little unwieldy
  • User dialog messaging. While Jamf [Pro] helper is very useful, a more feature-rich utility with editor functions would be extremely welcomed to interact with the user while installing software.
  • Policies: I would desperately like to see the ability to organize the order of packages and scripts within a policy without needing to use names, numbers, and 'priority'. Just let me drag items in a policy around in order.
  • Policies: scripts can only be run before or after, please let me place them in between packages
Jamf Pro is the premium swiss army knife of Mac platform management tools. In our case, we have found no need for additional tools and can generally solve all our management and support needs with the built-in functions.

We have to support a fairly large global workforce and be prepared for small and large acquisitions and divestitures at any time. With that in mind, a full-featured best in class product like Jamf Pro sets us up for continued success no matter what our existing business or future businesses demand of us.

We utilize Jamf Pro to manage our small fleet of iPads over 4 schools. We are a smaller district with about 3000 iPads. We are in education, Jamf [Pro] helps us with apps, security, finding lost iPads, web clips, and even a whitelist for our younger students to modify their access to the internet.
  • Manages Apps - gives details so that knowing what is available is easy, as well as what has fallen out of the app store.
  • Managing iPads - naming them, adding users, as well as what teachers have which iPads.
  • Sending web clips - allowing shortcuts to be added by management at [the] request of teachers so that students quickly have access to websites.
  • Finding Lost iPads - this feature is invaluable to us as we have students who travel with their iPads and are often forgetful and leave their iPads in their previous rooms or even at school over the weekend. The detail given is extremely helpful in recovering iPads.
  • Reports - this has improved some but sometimes my boss asks for huge reports that only need certain details but it can be difficult to pull that information out of Jamf [Pro].
  • Being able to resend configuration profiles to just the iPads that canceled, or are sitting at pending.
  • Sometimes fixing the PI's comes way too slowly. I work for a small district, I can't imagine being a big district and having to deal with limitations set by a product issue.
Recently we started importing computers into our Jamf [Pro] instance. I generally work with iPads only and it is a breeze with Jamf [Pro]. However, the computer portion is much more complex (rightfully so, you can do so much more). I do see that Jamf [Pro] is making progress with a few feature requests and implementing them for that side. I can't think of any scenarios where Jamf [Pro] has not been appropriate for what I do. It has mostly made my job easier, promoted learning in me and my workers, and allowed us to be super-efficient in the managing of our iPads.
